Dan Venglarik is a Partner at Munck Wilson Mandala, practicing in the Intellectual Property section.

Mr. Venglarik concentrates his practice on enforcement of intellectual property rights and defense of intellectual property claims, providing licensing assistance and domestic and international litigation support, prosecuting and defending patent reexaminations, providing opinions and expert testimony on infringement and validity, and counseling on patent portfolio management for core technologies.

Prior to joining Munck Wilson Mandala, Mr. Venglarik was a partner at a Fort Worth-based IP firm working with Fortune 50 technology clients, practiced in a Houston IP boutique, and served as a technical advisor to a major Texas intellectual property law firm. Mr. Venglarik served two years of active duty with the United States Army, Infantry in the 25th Infantry Division (Light) and three years of reserve duty with the Texas Army National Guard in the 69th Mechanized Infantry Division, receiving honorable discharges and various commendations in both instances.

Representative Experience:

  • Investigated numerous third-party infringement claims against multi-national semiconductor company and provided licensing/litigation support or, upon determining non-infringement and/or invalidity of subject patents, rendered legal opinions and provided deposition testimony regarding same
  • Provided litigation support for pharmaceutical company asserting patent against generics manufacturer
  • Defended reexaminations of rechargeable battery patents and provided related litigation support
  • Provided litigation support to vending company in defense of patent infringement claim and in support of counterclaim, prepared and prosecuted reexamination requests with the USPTO resulting in stay of litigation, defended reexamination of patents asserted in counterclaim without jeopardizing damage model
  • Assisted vending company in developing and asserting patent multiple infringement claims against various competitors, facilitating acquisition of one competitor
  • Assisted aerospace manufacturer in developing and asserting patent infringement claim against competitor
  • Provided due diligence investigation of multiple acquisition targets for vending company, including assessment of offensive and defensive strength of intellectual property portfolios for use in valuation
  • Provided counseling and expert testimony to bankruptcy trustee regarding cryptography patents
  • Represented numerous technology clients in preparation and prosecution of domestic and foreign patent applications, and related intellectual property matters
